Amongst all religions, Christianity, I believe, is the only one with a God who sacrificed His life for His creation. Isn’t it mind-boggling – to think that a God, a glorious and magnificent God, would take on a carpenter’s son as his human form and die a shameful death on the Cross of Calvary? I’ve been a fan of history classes ever since high school, and in almost all civilizations who worshipped gods and goddesses, never was it mentioned that they sacrificed their lives and their godhood for feeble and frail humans such as ourselves, except Christianity.
Christ is its very root. His precious blood shed for our sins is the one that covers us and our wickedness. Our acceptance of his cloak of righteousness paved the way for us to be reconciled to God and with God. Whenever the Father looks at us, He sees Christ’holiness covering our barenaked sinful natures. We cannot come to the Father by our own efforts. It is only through the sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ, whereby we are accepted.
Our lives are now hidden with Christ in God. It is our privilege to serve Him with faithful and obedient hearts, because He has clothed us with his righteousness. May it be our prayer that in whatever we say or do, we should really do it heartily as to the Lord, and not for men.
“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3
