“Likewise ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” 1 Pet. 5:5, KJV
There have been many times in my life when I’ve been ignoring Jesus. Admittedly, I sometimes tend to be partial to every person I meet. I reserve my own biases and prejudices for a certain individual especially during my first meeting with that person. More often than not, most of us judge others this way- according to our own standards of what we consider respectable and lovable.
But God is unlike most of us. In fact, He is really different from us- in the way He thinks, and acts, and deals with each person. If Christ’ death on the Cross was meant only for the affluent and well-off infividuals, then Hell would probably be too small a place for the billions of poor and illiterate people in the world. But thank God His death had no condition such as that. It was open (and still is) toward everyone in the world who recognizes and accepts Him wholeheartedly. God’s love does not overlook anyone. Whatever your background is and wherever it is you came from, always be confident in the promise that the Lord made for us. May we always put on the cloak of humility as we share the love of Christ to others.
