“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV

Champion runners were not born- they were made. Every time we hear of an athlete winning the most coveted gold medal in a certain game or marathon, we rejoice with that person in his victory. But much effort is put into claiming triumph over anything. For an athlete, it takes not just days, but weeks, even months of hardcore practice, strict diet, and tough discipline to be able to compete and eventually bring home the bacon.
Our Christian life is also likened to a race, but instead of looking at where others are going and how far they have gone, we are commanded to look at the Son, Jesus Christ, who is our finish line. When we set our eyes on Him, the world slowly becomes a passing blur together with all its distractions. The author of Hebrews instructs us to keep on running the race that is set before us, until we are able to meet Christ at the final lap of our lives.
How beautiful it is to one day be able to hear the Lord say, “well done, thou good and faithful servant” to each one of us. So let us give God the glory by fighting the good fight of our faith for Him, knowing that He sees our effort, no matter how frail, and He is a rewarder of us who put our hope and trust in Him.
