Project Grace Day 18: We Need A Savior

Hebrews 9:28 KJV
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

During High School and College I studied in a Jesuit,  Catholic institution. In one of our subjects then which was Christian Humanism, I was taught that Man was naturally good. He was only influenced by his surroundings to do evil things but deep down he was genuinely pure. It sounds encouraging, don’t you think? The Bible,  however,  tells us otherwise.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Scripture further enhances the impact of this verse by having an additional argument:
Genesis 6:5 KJV
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Man is naturally evil. He was born of sin and in sin. He cannot save himself from God’s wrath by doing good works, nor by achievements, nor by his career path. If it were so,  then all of us will have to race to the top to see who has done the most good deeds or achieved the most number of victories in a lifetime. Only a perfect Savior can cure us and save us from the power and hold of Sin in our lives. By God’s grace and His vast, encompassing love, He sent Jesus Christ,  His only begotten Son,  to take on our shame,  our filth, and our guiltiness and put all of these heavy burdens upon himself. We really need Jesus Christ in our lives in order for him to be able to cleanse us and make us holy, acceptable, and without blemish. He has already paid for our sins once and for all!

Yours truly,
