Project Grace Day 8: A Yoke Of Kindness

(Disclaimer:Image not mine)

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29, NKJV

While going home from having coffee with my boyfriend and parents downtown a few hours ago, I argued with myself whether to post on Project Grace tonight because, frankly speaking, I am emotionally tired and worn out from work. I guess my inner “blogger self” won because now I am jotting down my thoughts for this evening’s devotional.

The outside world is a place full of burdens. We each have our own heavy luggages we carry everyday as we try to get past the daily grind. Our heartaches, financial crises, morality issues, and emotional stresses leave us all severely damaged. No matter how much we try to get up and bounce back to prove that we are strong enough, that’s just it. We are just not strong enough. But have we considered unloading the burdens on our shoulders and placing them on Jesus’ mighty hands?

Yes, He has carried our sin, our shame, our eternal debt on the Cross of Calvary. But have we fully surrendered to Him all- our fears, our uncertainties, our confusion, our unbelief? Jesus promises that when we wholly accept Him, He will walk alongside us together and will share the weight of the burdens we have that keep slowing us down. In fact, He will pull and carry every possible load from us to give us rest.

I pray that as we face life, we may be able to offer to God every happiness, every joy, every pain, and every burden in our hearts so that we may be able to experience His yoke of kindness and gentleness.
