The Busy Girl’s Guide to Finding Herself

(disclaimer: photos are not mine)

Everyday we girls are bombarded with so many responsibilities that somehow choke us. Family, friends, work, love- these are the common things that fill our busy schedules and demand our attention. Sometimes it’s all good. And sometimes, it just leaves us tired and depleted

.

How do we find ourselves amidst our hectic itineraries and slip away from the busyness of it all?

1. Go out for a walk. Alone.

There’s nothing more refreshing than a walk in the park or the town square alone and just observe and inhale the beauty of your surroundings. We are so caught up in our careers, our post graduate studies, our boyfriends- that somehow we forget to make time for ourselves.

2. Travel. Alone

For the busy girl like you, traveling is one of the best ways to unwind and find your adventurous self again. Get away from the city. See green. Experience new things. Taste bizarre foods. And make great memories.

3. Keep a journal.

Writing your experiences is one way of helping you remember all of the best, and worst moments of your life that made you into the person you are today. You don’t have to buy an expensive diary. An old unused notebook, or a journal application on your tablet should be enough.

4. Do what you love. Do it often.

I personally like watching AnimΓ© and sketching AnimΓ© characters. But it’s been a really long time since I last drew my favorite heroine due to my busy sched. If you’re like me, I suggest you should really take some time off and just do what drives your passion. Reading, writing, photography, making music- use your talent!

5. Be yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sometimes it feels necessary to meet the expectations of other people for us. I really wonder why that is so because even I feel the same way often. But I tell you, don’t get caught up in being a people pleaser. You can’t please everyone. Be yourself- your raw and flawed self – and notice the persons who accept you inspite and despite of who you are. Show them the real you, no exceptions. Being true to yourself is the best way to find yourself.
